Peter Crouch admitted he was thrilled to be wearing a Liverpool shirt again after scoring at Anfield . The striker scored twice as Liverpool Legends beat Chelsea Legends 2-0 in a charity match for the Liverpool Foundation.
After the game, Peter Crouch and Liverpool legend captain Steven Gerrard were interviewed.
Peter Crouch said: "I can say it was really exciting because I never thought I would be back here again as a player. So to be able to play was amazing for me and it was great for the Foundation. Also, to score a few goals in front of my family and friends was amazing."
"A lot of kids come here and ask if they can make robots. Actually I'd rather not do that, but this is all for the kids."
“I think it’s great to be able to play with the likes of Steven Gerrard again. My son has never seen me play and I think he probably thought I was lying. It’s definitely a great day for me and great for the foundation as well.”
Steven Gerrard said: "We wanted Peter Crouch to score the third goal, everyone was tired, but he changed the game. I thought we played well throughout the game."
"I think all eyes are on the game, we've got Everton coming up, it's a big game for us, but when you get the invitation to play in front of a full house during the international break, you can't turn it down.
“The primary purpose of the foundation is to raise significant funds to support the region and former footballers in need. However, none of this would be possible without the support of the fans.”
