According to PA news agency on Thursday, Liverpool is interested in signing 24-year-old Dutch international Jeremy Frimpong this summer. The two sides have also started negotiations, but they are still in the early stages.
Jeremy Frimpong mainly plays as a right back, but can also play as a right winger. He came from Manchester City's youth training and joined Leverkusen from Celtic for 11 million euros in January 2021.
So far, Frimpong has played 182 times for Leverkusen, scoring 29 goals and providing 40 assists, winning the Bundesliga, German Cup and German Super Cup with the team. He also played 12 times for the Netherlands, contributing 1 goal and 2 assists.
Sky Sports Germany reported two weeks ago that Frimpong is open to a move to the Premier League or La Liga this summer. He is also seen by Liverpool as a potential replacement for Alexander-Arnold, who is rumoured to be close to joining Real Madrid. Liverpool may accelerate their pursuit of Frimpong if a deal is eventually reached.
However, Liverpool must compete with Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea at the same time. As for Leverkusen, they have set a price of 40 million to 50 million euros for Frimpong.
