Official: Wolves extend contract with 24-year-old midfielder Joao Gomes until 2030

Wolves released a statement on Tuesday, announcing that Joao Gomes has renewed his contract for two years. The new contract will be extended to June 2030 and includes a one-year extension option.

According to British media reports, there is no termination clause in Gomes' contract.

The 24-year-old Joao Gomes came from Flamengo's youth training and made his debut for the first team in the Copa Libertadores on October 22, 2020. He then played 122 games for Flamengo, contributing 4 goals and 4 assists, and won the Copa Libertadores, Brazilian League, Rio de Janeiro State League, Brazilian Cup and Brazilian Super Cup with the team.

In January 2023, Gomes transferred to Wolves for 18.7 million euros. He mainly plays as a central midfielder for Wolves. So far, he has made 81 appearances, scored 7 goals and provided 3 assists.

After Gomes completed the contract extension, Wolves coach Vitor Pereira said: "I am very happy. Joao is a team player. He always gives his all in training and games, and has the ability to help the team and the club move to a higher level."

"When the game is over, he has given his all for the team, whether it is defending, attacking or supporting his teammates. This is exactly what our team needs and the spirit that the club is pursuing. We must maintain this desire and fighting spirit at Wolves to help the team and the club continue to grow."

"He is very important because he is a very physical midfielder who can run for 90 minutes and is still very young. He has great potential and is expected to develop into a top player."
