Joel Embiid to undergo arthroscopic left knee surgery in preparation for next season

Philadelphia 76ers player Joel Embiid is expected to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee next week in order to recover and play next season.

Embiid's season was ruled out in late February as he focused on treatment and rehabilitation of his knee. The Philadelphia 76ers said they would provide further updates after the surgery is completed.

The 31-year-old Embiid entered the NBA as the third pick in the 2014 draft, but he suffered serious injuries before joining the NBA, which caused Embiid to miss a lot of games.

Embiid, who has been plagued by injuries, has experienced bone contusion, meniscus tear, orbital fracture, shoulder sprain, tendonitis, ligament tear, etc., and even suffered from Bell's palsy at one point.

In December last year, Embiid was interviewed and revealed that he had been depressed because of his injuries. Embiid said: "In those moments, it's hard not to be disappointed in yourself."

“It’s especially hard when you know who you are and what you can achieve, but you can’t do anything. But an important lesson I learned is not to wallow in self-pity, but to learn to enjoy the beauty around you and stay away from negative energy.”

So far, Embiid has been playing for the Philadelphia 76ers. Due to injuries, he has only played in 452 regular season games and missed 431 of the Philadelphia 76ers' 883 regular season games, with an absence rate of nearly 50%.

Before the start of this season, the Philadelphia 76ers were considered one of the favorites to win the NBA championship. However, the Philadelphia 76ers currently have a record of 23 wins and 53 losses, ranking 13th in the Eastern Conference and have missed the playoffs.
