Postecoglou says clubs must stick to a clear path

Ange Postecoglou has called on Tottenham to "stick to one path" to achieve long-term change at the club, joking that his nearly two years in charge "is pretty good for Spurs!"
After losing 0-1 to Chelsea on Thursday, Tottenham's Premier League defeat streak has increased to 16 this season, and Postecoglou's position as coach is under pressure again. What is more controversial is that before Pap Sarr's goal was ruled out by VAR, Pochettino made a "covering ears celebration" gesture to Tottenham fans in the away stands, which aroused the disgust of many fans.
Although the 59-year-old Australian coach later insisted that his action was misunderstood, the incident undoubtedly deepened the rift between him and some fans. Such a tense atmosphere before Sunday's home game against Southampton and the upcoming Europa League quarter-final first leg (against Frankfurt) will undoubtedly make Spurs' situation worse.
"Every coach has his or her own opinion, but I don't think this is just about the head coach," Postecoglu said.
"I've been doing it for almost two years, which is pretty good for Tottenham! But I think the club has to insist on a clear path at some point in time. If I say this now, it might be seen as defending myself, which would lose its meaning. Maybe now is not the time to say it."
"But if you want to really change the trajectory of destiny, you have to fundamentally change the whole mentality and direction of the club."
"I think last year was actually a good year - no matter what anyone says. We lost Harry Kane, that's a fact. Despite all the talk about how the season started, we finished fifth and completely changed the way we play.
"But now the situation is that one year is good, the next year is not so good, and people will say: 'Okay, next person.' But this is a challenge I accept myself. I can't sit here and say 'It's too hard for me'. This is my next task."
"To be honest, I haven't succeeded in changing the mindset of the outside world yet. But I'm a fighter and I will keep fighting until someone tells me I can stop."
