Brazilian right winger Rodrygo Goes on Wednesday said rumours linking him with leaving Real Madrid this summer were "pure rumours".
Rodrigo has not played since the Copa del Rey final on April 26, sparking speculation about his status and future. Felipe del Campo, content director of Marca, claimed at the time that Rodrigo was considering leaving the club this summer. He pointed out that the arrival of Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe made Rodrigo feel marginalized, and his relationship with Junior Vinicius was no longer the same. The Brazilian was in a low mood and even unwilling to play for Real Madrid.
Felipe Del Campo then added that Rodrigo's future depends on Xabi Alonso, who is about to take over as Real Madrid coach, but the latter prefers to build an offensive system around Bellingham, Mbappe and Vinicius. Real Madrid is also tired of Rodrigo's frequent pressure and has begun to be open to his transfer this summer.
In response to the report of Marca, Rodrigo quickly clarified through social media. He said: "Thank you for your concern and messages. I will be back soon. Please stop making up rumors."
The 24-year-old Rodrigo came from the Santos youth training and transferred to Real Madrid for 45 million euros in July 2019. To date, he has made 267 appearances for Real Madrid, scored 68 goals and provided 50 assists, and won 2 Champions League titles, 1 Club World Cup title, 3 La Liga titles, 2 European Super Cup titles, 1 FIFA Intercontinental Cup title, 1 Copa del Rey title and 3 Spanish Super Cup titles with the team.
