The 2025 MSI competition system is released, GEN and T1 will go straight to the knockout stage

League of Legends (LOL) announced on Tuesday that the 2025 MSI Mid-Season Invitational will be held at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, Canada from June 27 to July 12. Ten teams from the world's five major regions will gather together to compete for the championship and key places in the League of Legends Global Finals.

The MSI Mid-Season Invitational has been held by Riot Games in the middle of the year since 2015. Its importance is second only to the League of Legends World Championship. This year's event is divided into two stages: the "qualifiers" and the "eliminations". The champion team and the best performing second-best region will get additional places in the World Championship.

According to the latest competition system of this year's MSI, the LCK region has an additional advantage due to HLE's victory in the first round of the competition - the region's No. 1 seed GEN and No. 2 seed T1 will directly advance to the knockout stage. The No. 1 seeds of the other four major regions (LPL, LEC, LTA, LCP) will also go directly to the knockout stage, and the second seeds must participate in the qualifying round. The qualifying round will adopt the GSL double-elimination system to determine the last two teams to advance to the knockout stage.

The knockout stage will bring together eight teams, using a BO5 (best of five) double-elimination system.
