Brazilian CS2 team Imperial announced on Tuesday that it has signed former FURIA rifleman Marcelo Cepedas (ID: chelo). He will replace Richard Sedi (ID: chayJESUS) as the starting player and join the team in the 2025 Thunderpick World Championship South American Division.
The 27-year-old chelo has played for many CS teams such as paiN, Luminosity, INTZ, and MIBR. He first joined Imperial for a transfer fee of about $200,000 in August 2022. He spent the most glorious year of his career in Imperial, during which he played in 99 maps, participated in 2,691 rounds, harvested 1,901 kills, had a headshot rate of 58.0%, and a personal average rating of 1.12, and helped the team advance to the semi-finals of the 2023 BLAST Spring Finals.
In August 2023, chelo switched from Imperial to FURIA. He subsequently played 309 maps for FURIA, participated in 6895 rounds, and received 4273 kills. His headshot rate increased to 61.0%, but his average rating dropped to 1.00. In April this year, chelo was relegated to the bench by FURIA, and his position was also replaced by Kazakh sniper Daniel Golubenko (ID: molodoy).
With the return of chelo, Imperial's current lineup is as follows:
Commander/Rifleman: Vinicius Figueiredo (ID: VINI)
Rifleman: Keki Santos (ID: noway)
Sniper: Santino Rigal (ID: try)
Rifleman: Marcelo Cepedas (ID: chelo)
Coach: Rafael Fernandez (ID: zakk)
Substitute: Richard Seidi (ID: chayJESUS)
Substitute: Lucas Basella (ID: decenty)
