Javier Zanetti celebrates 30 years at Inter Milan

On August 27, 1995, the young Argentine player Javier Zanetti wore the Inter Milan jersey for the first time and made his blue and black debut at the San Siro Stadium.

On that day, 80,000 fans witnessed the beginning of Inter Milan's history and the birth of a captain who would later play 858 games for the club and become a symbol and legend.

Today, Zanetti is Inter Milan's vice-president. This year marks the 30th anniversary of his joining Inter. Looking back on his career, he said emotionally: "Inter Milan is an eternal commitment."

Zanetti still remembers his arrival in Milan vividly: "At the press conference, I appeared with Lambert. There were Facchetti, Suarez, Angelillo, Bergomi and President Moratti... That was my first real contact with the world of Inter Milan."

“Wearing the captain’s armband is a huge responsibility and an honour. Looking back at those who have worn it before, they were all players who had a profound impact on the club. Being able to be captain for 15 years means a lot to me. Inter is my home and I give my all for the club and my teammates.”

For Zanetti, the most precious moment remains his debut match. Roberto Carlos scored the winning goal against Vicenza, and he wore Inter's number 4 jersey for the first time: "That day was a dream come true for me and the beginning of my story with Inter."

From a fledgling Argentinian player to a symbol of Inter, Zanetti has spent 30 years fulfilling his commitment to Inter. His story is not only personal, but also part of the history and emotional legacy of the entire Nerazzurri.
