The Hammers West Ham will travel to challenge Aston Villa in the 23rd round of the 2024/25 Premier League. West Ham coach Potter said that every training session helped him understand the players better and he enjoyed working with the players very much.
After losing 0-2 to Crystal Palace at home in the last round of the Premier League, West Ham currently ranks 14th in the standings with 26 points, with 2 wins and 3 losses in the last 5 rounds.
West Ham manager Potter said: “This is the first time we have had a full week of training. Although we have only been here for a little over two weeks, it feels like a long time has passed. It is a good thing to have enough time to train, and we have completed some good training content, analyzed the last game, and prepared for the game against Aston Villa. I think we have made full use of this time.”
“The players have been training very well and, as I said before, every training session has allowed me to get to know them better. So far, everything is going well and the players are working very hard, and I have no complaints about these two weeks. After every training session and communication, I can see their determination. They have clear goals and are eager to improve, and I really want to enjoy working with them.”
When talking about the team's lineup, Porter shared, "We are a little nervous on the front line at the moment. Several forwards have been injured during the days I coached, and there were already several players who were injured, so we can only make adjustments."
"Kudos has had to adapt to different adjustments recently, and the same goes for Paqueta. But Kudus has been extremely positive in every challenge and I think he is a player who can be comfortable in multiple positions along the front line. If we can find the right balance, we will have another top player."
On the other hand, Aston Villa drew 2-2 with Arsenal in the last round of the league and currently ranks 8th in the standings with 36 points. In terms of head-to-head record, West Ham have drawn 2 and lost 3 in the last 5 matches against Aston Villa, including a 1-2 loss to Emery's team at home in the first round of this season.
Potter said: "It's always a tough game against Aston Villa. Villa Park is a challenging environment for any team playing away. Emery is very good and the team is in good shape. They are participating in the Champions League and competing for a European place. They are a very strong team."
"In the last match, we played well in the first half but failed to maintain the same level in the second half. We need to do better this time and will give our all to compete."
