Santos looking to loan Arthur Melo to Juve

According to Brazilian media GE, after successfully signing Neymar back from Al-Hilal, Santos has officially started negotiations with Juventus, hoping to loan midfielder Arthur Melo until the end of this season with a buyout option.

Arthur has a close relationship with Neymar and has played alongside him in the Brazilian national team. However, at only 28 years old, he has become a marginal player at Juventus and the Italian giants are actively looking for a suitable way to clear him out.

Although Juventus included Arthur in the Champions League registration list, he has not had a chance to play so far this season. In the summer window last year, Arthur wanted to seek a loan or permanent transfer, but it ultimately failed. His last official match appearance was on May 29, 2023, when he played 74 minutes for Fiorentina in the UEFA Champions League final, but the team eventually lost 0-1 to Olympiacos and missed the championship.

Arthur made his debut at Gremio and quickly made his mark in the Brazilian arena, helping the team win the 2016 Brazilian Cup and the 2017 Copa Libertadores. His outstanding performance attracted the attention of Barcelona, and he officially landed in Europe in 2018. During his time at Barcelona, Arthur once became an important part of the team's midfield, helping the team win the 2018-19 La Liga championship and the Spanish Super Cup.

Juventus is currently seeking to part ways with Arthur, and Santos' invitation may provide him with an opportunity to return to the top. In the first two years of Juventus, Arthur had 30+ appearances in each season, but since the 2022-23 season, his role in the team has gradually been marginalized and he was loaned to Liverpool. However, his experience in the Premier League was not smooth. After only two games, he underwent surgery for a thigh injury and missed most of the season.

Now, Santos hopes to bring back the Brazilian midfielder, and this opportunity to return to South America may be another turning point in Arthur's career.
