On January 30, local time, the 2025 NBA All-Star Eastern and Western Conference substitute lineups were officially announced. The 35-year-old Clippers star Harden returned to the All-Star Game as a substitute after two years. Cunningham, Wen Banyama, and Jaylen Johnson were also on the bench. New stars such as Len Williams and Shen Jing were shortlisted for the first time due to their outstanding performances.
However, Irving, Sabonis Jr., Trae Young, LaMelo Ball, Jalen Green and others who also performed well this season missed this year's All-Star Game. LaMelo Ball's failure to be selected was the most disappointing. This was a surprise to many, as he was once ranked first among Eastern Conference backcourt players in the voting.
The 2025 NBA All-Star Game will be held at the Chase Center in San Francisco on February 16. According to the All-Star reserve selection rules, 30 coaches from the East and West will vote to select seven All-Star reserve players from their respective divisions, including two back-end players. To ensure fairness, coaches are not allowed to vote for players on their own team.
If a starting or substitute player is unable to play due to injury, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will select a suitable replacement based on the situation.
The specific list is as follows:
Eastern Conference Reserves: Damian Lillard (Milwaukee Bucks), Darius Garland (Cleveland Cavaliers), Jaylen Brown (Boston Celtics), Cade Cunningham (Detroit Pistons), Tyler Herro (Miami Heat), Evan Mobley (Cleveland Cavaliers), Pascal Siakam (Indiana Pacers)
Western Conference Reserves: Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), Anthony Davis (Los Angeles Lakers), James Harden (Los Angeles Clippers), Jaren Jackson Jr. (Memphis Grizzlies), Alperen Shin-kyung ( Houston Rockets), Jalen Williams (Oklahoma City Thunder), Victor Wembanyama (San Antonio Spurs)
