Bayern Munich officially announced that Manuel Neuer's contract will be extended from 2025 to June 30, 2026.
Manuel Neuer, 38, was born in Schalke's youth training and moved to Bayern Munich for 30 million euros in July 2011. He gradually grew into a representative figure of contemporary German goalkeepers in Bayern. So far, he has made 547 appearances, kept 258 clean sheets, and helped the team win 2 Champions League titles, 2 Club World Cup titles, 11 Bundesliga titles, 2 European Super Cup titles, 5 German Cup titles and 7 German Super Cup titles.
Neuer has also played 124 times for the German national team, keeping 51 clean sheets. He has participated in four World Cups (2010, 2014, 2018, 2022) and four European Championships (2012, 2016, 2020, 2024), and won the World Cup in 2014 as a main player.
Commenting on the decision to extend Neuer's contract, FC Bayern sports director Max Eberl said: "Manuel Neuer is the best goalkeeper of his generation and a symbol of FC Bayern. When it comes to contemporary goalkeepers, Neuer is a name that cannot be ignored - all over the world. He is an absolute role model both on and off the pitch. We are delighted that this unique and successful cooperation is being extended."
Sporting director Christoph Freund then added: "Manuel Neuer has been a benchmark for goalkeepers for more than ten years. He is our captain and an important figure for FC Bayern, and the players know they can always rely on him. We are very happy to have him alongside us next season and to pursue our goals."
Neuer said: "I love playing football very much and I hope to continue to stay at Bayern. I am still full of desire and look forward to spending another season at this special club. We have always maintained good communication. It feels good and we still have many goals to achieve together."
