Ben Chilwell joins Crystal Palace on loan until summer

Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell has joined Crystal Palace on loan until the summer.

According to Sky Sports, Crystal Palace and Chelsea negotiated Chilwell's temporary transfer last weekend and finally reached an agreement.

The England international has made just one appearance in all competitions this season, coming on as a substitute against Barrow in the League Cup last September.

Chilwell joined Chelsea from Leicester City for £50 million in August 2020 and won the Champions League with the team in 2021. He became the second signing of Crystal Palace in the winter window, after the club had already introduced Roman Essai.

Chilwell said in an official interview with the club: "I am very happy to be here. Crystal Palace is a club with a clear development direction. Looking at the performance and results of the past few months, I made this decision without hesitation."

Club chairman Steve Parish added: "Ben (Chilwell) has a wealth of experience in top European and international competitions. I am delighted that he has joined on loan and we believe he will be an important reinforcement for the team."
