Ollie Watkins said the victory was exciting and greatly boosted the team's morale.

Aston Villa secured a remarkable victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge thanks to a brace from Ollie Watkins. After the match, Watkins praised the win as exhilarating. Despite Aston Villa's eventual triumph, Chelsea dominated the first half, with João Pedro scoring from a corner kick by Reece James, firmly controlling the tempo and dominating the game.

Substitute Ollie Watkins sparked a second-half comeback. As one of the team's three substitutions, he made an immediate impact within minutes of entering the game, helping Aston Villa equalize. Then, in the 84th minute, the striker headed in the winning goal, completing his fifth of the season and securing a stunning comeback victory.

After the match, Ollie Watkins said: "It was fantastic! For me personally, it felt great to come on and score two goals. But more importantly, it was fantastic that we were able to maintain this momentum and beat Chelsea in a tough away game."

In London, Aston Villa made history, equaling the club's longest winning streak – 11 games. The previous records were set in September 1897, March 1914, and December 2025. Under Unai Emery, Aston Villa have now won eight consecutive Premier League games this season; the last time they achieved a longer winning streak in the top flight was between October and December 1910.

When asked about the manager's instructions and intentions, Ollie Watkins spoke highly of the Spanish coach. He said, "He adjusted the tactics because Chelsea adopted man-marking, and when we used long balls, they added a center-back."

“After I came on in the second half, the coach substituted Sancho and Morgan, which I think created more space for us. Then, he put Yuri in the number 10 position, giving us an extra player, which I think was a brilliant tactical move.”
