Sporting Clube de Portugal officially announce the signing of West Ham United's Brazil U21s international winger wonderkid Luis Guilherme..

Sporting Clube de Portugal announced on its official website on Sunday that the club has signed Brazil U21s international winger wonderkid Luis Guilherme from West Ham United.

According to Sporting CP's official statement, Guilherme has signed on a long-term four-and-a-half-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2030.

Furthermore, according to CBS Sport's resident transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, Leões paid West Ham United a transfer fee of €14 million to sign Guilherme.

Jacobs added that Guilherme chose to leave West Ham to join the Portuguese Primeira Liga giants because the Hammers failed to deliver on their promises, hindering his career development, and because he wanted to maximize his chances of being selected for Brazil's World Cup squad this summer.

After completing his transfer procedures, Guilherme, who was interviewed by the Sporting CP official website for the first time, said: "I am very happy to join such a great club as Sporting Clube de Portugal. From my first conversation with the club's director, they spoke highly of the club, saying the atmosphere here is like a big family."

"The players have been very welcoming to new members. I am very happy and satisfied, and I hope to do my best to help the team."

About Luis Guilherme

The 19-year-old Guilherme was born on February 9, 2006, in Aracaju, Brazil. He is 1.75 meters tall, and primarily plays as a right winger, but can also play as a left winger or attacking midfielder.

Guilherme joined Palmeiras' youth academy at the age of 11 and completed his Palmeiras first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in April 2023.

Shortly after his debut, Guilherme won one Campeonato Brasileiro Série A title and one Campeonato Paulista title with his club, subsequently attracting the attention of several top clubs in Europe's top five leagues.

In July 2024, West Ham United beat out Bayern Munich, Napoli, Benfica, Porto, Liverpool, Feyenoord, and Shakhtar Donetsk to sign Guilherme for £25.5 million. However, he rarely got playing time.

During his 18-month spell with the Hammers, Guilherme made only 18 appearances for the Premier League club in all competitions, failing to score or assist.
