American reporter: Pelicans have no intention of trading Zion Williamson, Shaun Murphy, or other key players.

According to NBA insider Chris Haynes on Friday, the New Orleans Pelicans have no intention of breaking up their core roster. They have officially notified all teams in the league that Zion Williamson, Trae Murphy, Herbert Jones, Derrick Quinn, and Jeremiah Fils will remain with the team after the February 5 trade deadline.

The Pelicans have been struggling this season, currently sitting second-to-last in the Western Conference with a 9-31 record. Trade rumors surrounding the Pelicans have intensified, with Zion Williamson's future being a particular focus of attention.

Zion Williamson has three years remaining on his contract with the Pelicans, totaling approximately $126 million. His salary this season is $39.4 million, increasing to $42.2 million and $44.9 million in the next two seasons, respectively.

Zion Williamson has missed 15 regular season games intermittently this season due to hip adductor and hamstring strains. He has only played 23 games for the Pelicans so far, averaging 22.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.1 steals in 28.8 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 56.2%.

Besides Zion Williamson, Shaun Murphy's future is also attracting much attention. He has been listed as a potential target by several teams this summer, but the Pelicans insist that he is not for sale.

Since entering the NBA in 2021, Murphy's scoring average has steadily increased year by year with the Pelicans. So far this season, he has played 35 regular season games, averaging 21.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals in 35.6 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 49.5% and a three-point percentage of 38.2%.
