Dust2 exclusively reported on Tuesday that Chelsea's Ukraine international winger Mykhailo Mudryk has been banned for 28 days by FACE IT after taunting his opponent and deliberately bringing up the Volhynia massacre during World War II during a Counter Strike 2 training match, fueled by frustration at losing the game.
According to the report, Mudryk, frustrated by being killed in-game during a training match against BC.Game, verbally abused his opponent in the live chat.
During the match, BC.Game's star player s1mple, annoyed by Mudreik's childish outburst and provocation, simply retorted, "It's just an esports match, why take it so seriously?" This provoked Mudryk to launch into a sustained verbal attack.
Later, unable to bear Mudryk's verbal bullying any longer, s1mple finally snapped and lashed out at him: "You should just go back to playing football. Oh no, I forgot, you should focus on doping more performance-enhancing drugs!"
This immediately crossed Mudryk's already fragile line, prompting him to deliberately bring up the historical massacres of Poles by the Ukrainian Insurgents (UPA) in Volyn and Eastern Galicia during World War II.
Since BC.Game's coach, TaZ, is Polish, Mudryk's disgusting remarks were clearly targeted at him, and his actions, after being reported by Dust 2, immediately drew fierce criticism from netizens worldwide.
Due to the severity of the situation, on the evening of February 3, 2026, FACE IT finally announced on its official website that Mudryk would be suspended for 28 days.
The reason for the suspension on the player's profile page on the FACE IT website has also been marked as "toxicity."
It's worth mentiotnng that with this incident, Mudryk becomes one of the few athletes in the world to be banned across multiple sports.
He is also the first and only player in the world to be banned in both football and esports.
Mudryk was banned for four years in mid-December 2024 after testing positive for banned substances in a urine test.
Afterwards, Chelsea and Mudryk himself confirmed the incident, but the player insisted that he did not intentionally use banned substances, but unknowingly ingested medication provided by the Ukrainian national team doctor to help treat an injury, and maintained that he was unaware that the medication contained banned substances.
When Mudryk's ban expires in 2029, Mudryk, who would be 30-year-old by then, will have essentially spent most of his time with Chelsea under suspension.
Last year, there were reports online alleging that Mudryk planned to switch to marathon running during his ban. As a result, immediately after the news was released, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) issued a statement banning Mudryk from participating in any other competitive sports during his suspension.
