Team Secret, a long-established European esports powerhouse, released a statement on its official social media, announcing that the club will take a passive approach to returning to the Dota 2 competitive scene.
This news marks the official temporary withdrawal of this legendary team, which has been active for over a decade, from the historical stage of Dota 2.
Team Secret was founded after TI4 in 2014 by KuroKy and n0tail, with the aim of creating a dream team driven by players rather than capital.
Under the long-term leadership of legendary captain Puppey, Team Secret had countless highlights and dominated the tour for multiple seasons, making them the undisputed "Big Boss".
However, the Aegis of Champions at The International (TI) has always remained an unattainable dream for them. Despite consistently maintaining top-tier strength, Team Secret has repeatedly fallen short at TI. Their closest brush with achieving this dream was at TI11, where they fought their way to the grand finals, ultimately losing to Tundra Esports and finishing as runners-up.
The collapse following TI11 proved to be the straw that broke the camel's back. With the departure of core players like Nisha, Team Secret fell into a three-year slump. Frequent roster changes failed to prevent the decline in performance, and they missed all subsequent TI tournaments.
With Puppey, the team's key player, recently joining PARIVISION as a coach, Team Secret's core is no longer intact. Although the official announcement states that they remain open to future opportunities, Team Secret's Dota 2 era has officially come to an end.
