Arteta believes Merino can bring more highlights

The Gunners Arsenal will travel to challenge the Seagulls Brighton in the latest round of the Premier League . When coach Arteta talked about Merino's performance, he especially praised Merino as a natural leader and believed that the midfielder would continue to give outstanding performances in the future.

In the last round of the league, Arsenal beat Brentford 3-1 away from home after Jesus, Merino and Martinelli scored goals when they were ahead. After 3 wins and 2 draws in the last 5 rounds, Liverpool is currently ranked second in the standings with 39 points, 6 points behind the first place Liverpool.

The 28-year-old Spanish midfielder Merino joined Arsenal in August last year. So far this Premier League season, Merino has played 12 times for Arsenal and contributed two goals.

Talking about Merino's outstanding performance, Arteta said at the press conference, "We expected him to integrate into the team quickly because he has played in the Premier League. He is a very smart and experienced player and is very suitable for our team. But he has experienced injuries and some recurring minor problems. He did not participate in the full pre-season preparations because he had previously played for the Spanish national team, so it took some time for him to gradually adapt."

"But we can already see his influence on the team, his intelligence and goal threat have helped us. He is also a natural leader and as his role continues to grow, I am sure he will bring more contributions."

As for how to further improve the team's performance, Arteta said, "We must first focus on the youth training camp. Can we find the players we need from the youth training camp? This is the first option. If not, then we will consider other options. We need to cultivate the players' abilities in different positions to make their abilities more diverse."

"I think Lewis Skelly and Nwaneri deserved to play because of their performances, it wasn't a choice made because of injuries. We certainly had other options but they got the chance to play because they are great players."

In addition, Arteta added, "Players can have a lot of talent, but whether this talent has the opportunity to be displayed in the first team is another matter. This is the result of our years of hard work, especially leaving space for youth players in the team lineup so that we can make full use of the players we already have."
