League of Legends: CptMario is expected to join MOVISTAR KOI's Academy as its head coach..

Sheep Esports exclusively reported on Wednesday that former Karmine Corp Acadamy's head coach CptMario is expected to join MOVISTAR KOI's Academy as its head coach.

According to the report, negotiations are reportedly in their final stages, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, CptMario will soon be confirmed as the new head coach of the Spanish League of Legends esports powerhouse's academy team at Circuito Tormenta.

If the deal goes through, CptMario will become the first former Karmine Corp player / coach to join MOVISTAR KOI, undoubtedly further fueling the competition between these two European League of Legends esports giants.

It's worth mentioning that MOVISTAR KOI has already planned to establish a second academy team to participate in Circuito Tormenta as early as December 2025.

This academy team project will be supervised by their main team's head coach Melzhet and Director of Operations Russett.

The duo interviewed several potential candidates last month and, after internal discussions, decided to appoint CptMario as the head coach for the project.

About CptMario

CptMario, whose real name is Mario de la Torre, was born in Spain and became a professional esports coach for League of Legends in 2024.

In 2024, CptMario served as the head coach of CDC. The following January, he joined Karmine Corp, becoming the head coach of its second academy team, Karmine Corp Blue Stars.

During his time coaching Karmine Corp Blue Stars, CptMario helped the team successfully develop top laner Hazel and Italian-Chinese bot laner Xu Hongtao (ID: Tao).

Both have now been promoted to their first academy team, Karmine Corp Blue, as starting players on the LFL team's roster.

In January of this year, CptMario joined the Swedish team Lundqvist Lightside (LLS) as an assistant coach.

However, after the team suffered two consecutive losses in the first two weeks of the NLC Winter, CptMario resolutely decided to leave the team.
