Counter Strike 2: Passion UA officially appoints Shockwave as its academy team's first head coach..

Ukrainian Counter Strike 2 powerhouse Passion UA announced on Wednesday via their official X (Twitter) account that they have officially appointed former Windigo analyst and coach Shockwave as the first head coach in the history of their academy team.

According to Passion UA's official statement, as the first head coach in its academy team's history, Shockwave will be responsible for helping Passion UA stand out from the numerous academy teams and establish a strong start.

The specific league that Passion UA's academy team will join will be announced in due course.

According to information from Dust 2, given that the main team's roster consists entirely of European players, the possibility of the academy team joining the North American league is extremely low, to avoid problems if academy team players are promoted to the main team in the future.

About Shockwave

The 43-year-old Shockwave was born on June 4, 1982, in Ukraine. He joined the Counter Strike esports scene as an analyst in 2016 and transitioned to coaching in 2019. 

Shockwave previously worked for F3 and Evolution. He joined Windigo as an analyst in October 2018 and became their coach the following March.

During this time, he led his team to victory in the 2018 World Esports Championship and the Moche XL Esports Championship, and achieved a top-12 finish at the DreamHack Masters Dallas.

After leaving Windigo in January 2020, Shockwave served as head coach for EC Kyiv, Wings Up, allStars, sYnck, and Twisted Minds over the next four years.

During this time, he led the latter to victory in the 2024 Saudi Arabia Esports Championship.

In 2025, Shockwave served as head coach for MINLATE, SKYFURY, and Millenium.

During this time, he achieved a top-8 finish in the CCT Season 3 European Series #17 Open Qualifier and the ESEA Season 55 Elite Cup Europe.
