Houston Dynamo announced on its official website on Friday that it has signed American international midfielder Duane Holmes from Preston.
According to the official statement of the Major League Soccer (MLS) club, Holmes has signed on a short-term one-and-a-half-year deal deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2026, with an option to extend his contract for another two years.
About Duane Holmes
Duane Holmes, 30, was born on November 6, 1994 in Columbus, USA. He is 1.68 meters tall and primarily plays as a center midfielder. He can also play as an attacking midfielder or right midfielder. He has dual nationality of the United States and the United Kingdom.
Holmes joined the Huddersfield Town youth academy at the age of 8 and completed his Huddersfield Town first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in an English League Cup match in September 2013.
The following year, Holmes was loaned-out to Yeovil Town and Bury, but failed to get a chance to play.
After returning to the team after the end of the loan in the summer of 2015, Holmes' situation did not improve and he suddenly wanted to leave Huddersfield Town.
In July of the following year, Holmes joined Scunthorpe United as a free agent.
In August 2018, Holmes joined Derby County for £700,000.
In January 2021, Holmes returned to Huddersfield Town for £1 million, and during this spell he reached the final of the EFL Championship promotion play-offs once with the club.
In July 2023, Holmes moved to Preston for £1.2 million.
During his one-and-a-half year spell with Preston, Holmes played 72 times for the EFL Championship club in all competitions, scoring 6 goals and providing 8 assists.
