The highly anticipated Dota 2 DreamLeague Season 28 playoffs officially kicked off today (February 28).
As the first Tier-1 level top-tier online tournament of the year, this competition brings together the world's four best teams, who will compete fiercely on European servers for the championship glory, a huge prize pool of $1 million, and valuable EPT points.
This year's playoffs will return to the classic "double-elimination tournament" format. To ensure fairness and entertainment value, all matches except the final will be played in a best-of-five (Bo5) format.
After the brutal group stage, the four teams that successfully advanced to the finals are: Team Liquid, Tundra Esports, Aurora Gaming, and Xtreme Gaming.
Team Liquid demonstrated dominant strength, advancing to the next stage with a perfect 7-0 record. Riding the wave of their recent BLAST Slam VI victory, they are undoubtedly the biggest favorites to win the championship.
Tundra Esports secured second place thanks to their meticulous tactical execution and also possess the strength to contend for the championship. Aurora Gaming, the tournament's biggest dark horse, pulled off a series of upsets, defeating strong opponents to advance to the semifinals.
The Chinese team Xtreme Gaming, which was not widely favored before the competition, proved their top competitiveness to the world with their hardcore performance on the field.
The tournament's prize pool of $1 million not only provides strong motivation for the teams, but its structured distribution mechanism also protects the rights and interests of both clubs and players. The champion will take home a whopping $250,000 in prize money.
