La Liga - Barcelona wins 1-0 and returns to the top of the standings

In the 24th round of the 2024-25 La Liga season, Barcelona defeated Rayo Vallecano 1-0 at home, gaining 3 points and returning to the top of the standings.

Barcelona won the match thanks to Robert Lewandowski's penalty kick. Currently, Barcelona ranks first in the La Liga standings with 51 points, the same as Real Madrid, which ranks second.

In a media interview after the game, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick said about the team's return to the top of the table: "We are very happy to get 3 points in a difficult game. Both the club and the fans deserve it."

"The opponents played very well, especially in terms of high pressing, and they are one of the best teams to come to the Olympic Stadium this season."

Flick also mentioned the performance of Lamine Yamal, saying: "He always tries to initiate attacks and create chances. I believe he will have more luck with goals soon."

There are still 14 rounds of La Liga, Barcelona is currently at the top of the table, Flick did not take it lightly. Flick believes that reaching the top now will not change anything, what they have to do is to continue fighting and stay in this position until the end of the season.

Barcelona still has two games in February, a La Liga match away to Las Palmas and the first leg of the Spanish Cup semi-final at home to Atletico Madrid.
