Casemiro: I hope to fulfill my contract with Manchester United and I am not satisfied with my substitute role

Brazil star Casemiro has hinted that he has no intention of leaving Manchester United this summer.

Casemiro's contract was originally scheduled to expire in June 2026, but his weekly salary of 350,000 pounds and his declining competitive form have made Manchester United consider selling him. According to Fabrizio Romano's recent report, Casemiro is expected to stay with Manchester United until the end of this season and then leave the team through a transfer. He went on to add that selling high-paid players such as Casemiro and replacing them with rising stars is one of Manchester United's plans to explore new development directions.

However, Casemiro himself prefers to fulfill the remaining one and a half years of his contract with Manchester United. Affected by age and injuries, the 33-year-old has been a substitute in 9 of the 25 games so far this season, and has not played in another 14 games. In an interview with AS, Casemiro responded: "I have to continue to act in the current way, that is, to work with respect and courtesy. Of course, I hope to play more games. I don't know any player who doesn't want to play and help the team. At the same time, I hope to help the club at this time. When I face challenges or problems, I always respect my teammates and coaches. I have special respect for Manchester United and I am very grateful to this club."

"I hope to see out the remaining one and a half years of my contract in Manchester. I am comfortable at Manchester United and so are my family. They have adapted to life in Manchester and we communicate in English now. I am very grateful to the fans and the club at Old Trafford. I am very happy at the club. As for being on the bench? Of course not, that's another matter."

Casemiro also believes that age will not affect his ability to extend his career: "I am still young and there is still a long way to go. In modern football, 33 years old is equivalent to 28 years old in the past. As long as you take good care of yourself, do a good job of nutrition and physical training, the player's career can be extended. For this reason, Cristiano Ronaldo can still score 50 goals a season at the age of 40."
