Joel Embiid re-injured left knee, will undergo knee examination

Joel Embiid missed another game for the Philadelphia 76ers after re-injuring his knee, leaving the center's immediate future uncertain. Joel Embiid has been examined and will undergo more tests the next day.

Joel Embiid was ruled out of the Philadelphia 76ers' 110-142 loss to Chicago. The team is currently in a slump as Joel Embiid missed his 38th game of the season due to his recurring injuries.

When Nick Nurse was asked if the player had played his last game of the season, coach Nick Nurse said: "It's not time yet. We are playing and testing and trying to find out and go from there."

Joel Embiid has played in just 19 of the Philadelphia 76ers' 57 games as the team fell to 20-37 after a 142-110 loss to the Chicago Bulls, falling by 50 points. Joel Embiid averaged 23.8 points per game and has averaged at least 30 points per game in the past three seasons, winning scoring titles twice. However, in the last two games, he has only scored a total of 29 points.

Nick Nurse also said: "I don't think anyone expected things to develop like this. It's disappointing on many levels. Joel Embiid wants to play, and we also hope that he can play. Our best option is to be able to let him play, but things have not developed like that, at least not yet."

Joel Embiid has played in just 58 regular season games and seven playoff games since winning Kia MVP honors in the 2022-23 season. The player played in just 39 games last season due to a torn meniscus in his left knee. The Philadelphia 76ers announced in early February of that season that Joel Embiid had undergone surgery, and he returned in early April to play in the Philadelphia 76ers' playoff run and win a gold medal with the U.S. Olympic team last summer.

Joel Embiid admitted earlier this month that he didn't have enough time to fully recover after undergoing surgery last year. Joel Embiid isn't the only Philadelphia 76ers player who has struggled with his health and performance.
