AC Milan released a statement on Monday confirming that it has completed the contract extension with Tijani Reinders. The two parties agreed to extend the contract, which was originally scheduled to expire in 2028, for two years until June 30, 2030.
The new contract also makes Reinders one of AC Milan's highest-paid players. His annual salary will increase from 1.7 million euros after tax to 3.5 million euros after the contract extension, and he can receive additional bonuses linked to personal and team goals.
"The extension is a huge recognition for me," Reinders said in an interview. "I am extremely proud to have renewed my contract after a year. I feel at home in Milan and can't wait for the coming season. I consider Milan my second home and I am very happy."
AC Milan has performed poorly this season, ranking ninth in Serie A with 11 wins, 8 draws and 8 losses and 41 points after 27 rounds. In this regard, Reinders said: "We are going through a difficult period and must do better, be stronger and continue to believe in our work."
"Greetings to the AC Milan fans. I am very happy to have renewed my contract. See you at San Siro. Long live AC Milan!"
The 26-year-old Reinders is one of the rising Dutch B2B midfielders in recent years. Since making his professional debut in August 2017, he has played in the Eredivisie for PEC Zwolle, Alkmaar and Waalwijk, and transferred to AC Milan for 20.5 million euros in July 2023.
So far, Reinders has made 90 appearances for the Rossoneri, contributing 16 goals and 7 assists, and won 1 Italian Super Cup with the team. He also played 20 times for the Netherlands, scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists.
