Former Arsenal midfielder and France international Matteo Guendouzi has heaped praise on Paris Saint-Germain striker Ousmane Dembele and believes the former Barcelona winger could win the Ballon d'Or at the end of the year.
This season, Dembele is in explosive form. He has played 37 games in all competitions and has scored 30 goals, which is only 10 goals less than his total number of goals in six years at Barcelona. Among them, after entering in 2025, he scored 22 goals in 17 games, with amazing efficiency. In addition, he topped the scorer list in the French Ligue 1, contributing 21 goals and 5 assists.
In an interview earlier this week, Guendouzi praised Dembele and firmly supported his bid for the Ballon d'Or: "His current performance makes him a strong contender for the Ballon d'Or. He has always had such potential. He is one of the best players in the world. Even if he doesn't score, he is one of the top three players in football today."
"But now, he has not only shown his strength on the court, but also started to prove himself with statistics. He is fulfilling people's long-standing expectations of him. Many players have begun to fear him."
Dembele just started for France in the first leg of the UEFA Nations League against Croatia. He hopes to continue his hot scoring form in the second leg on March 23 and help France advance to the next round.
