Monaco officially completes contract extension with Japan international winger Takumi Minamino..


Monaco announced on its official website on Tuesday that the club has renewed the contract of its Japan international winger Takumi Minamino.


According to Monaco's official statement, Minamino has signed on new short-term two-year deal with the club which will run until the summer of 2027.


About Takumi Minamino


The 30-year-old Takumi Minamino was born on January 16, 1995 in Izumisano City, Osaka, Japan. He is 1.72 meters tall and primarily plays as a left winger, but can also play as a right winger or attacking midfielder.


Minamino was already a member of his school' football team when he was a child at Kumatori Town Kindergarten and Izumisano Municipal Nagasaka Elementary School. At the age of 12, he joined the Cerezo Osaka youth academy and completed his Cerezo Osaka first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in November 2012.


During his two-year spell at Cerezo Osaka, Minamino attracted the attention of many European clubs with his outstanding performances. During this spell, he was also selected as the 2013 J League 1 and Japan Football Association Best Rookie Award.


In January 2015, Minamino joined Red Bull Salzburg for €70,000.


During his five-year spell at Salzburg, Minamino won the Austrian Bundesliga six times and the Austrian Cup four times. During the 2019/20 Champions League match against Liverpool, he and his then-teammate Erling Håland performed well and won the praise of the then Reds head coach Jürgen Klopp.


In January 2020, Minamino officially joined Liverpool for 8.5 million.


During his two-year spell with the Reds, Minamino won the Premier League once, the Carabao Cup once, and reached the Champions League final once with the club. During this spell, he was also briefly loaned-out to Southampton.


In July 2022, Minamino joined Monaco for 18 million.


Since becoming a member of Les Monégasques, Minamino has so far played 89 times for the Ligue 1 powerhouse in all competitions, scoring 16 goals and providing 15 assists.
