Manchester United extend contract with 19-year-old striker Ethan Whitley until 2028, with option to extend for another year

Manchester United released a statement on Thursday announcing that it had completed a contract extension with Ethan Wheatley. The new contract will last until at least June 2028, with an option to extend for another year.

Whitley later updated his social media to express his feelings: "It feels great to sign a new contract with this great club. This is another proud moment for me and my family."

Ethan Wheatley, 19, was born in Stockport, England, and plays as a center forward. He joined Manchester United's youth training at the age of 9, and helped Manchester United U18 win three championships last season with his outstanding performance.

In January 2024, Whitley signed his first professional contract at Manchester United. On April 24 of the same year, he made his Premier League debut against Sheffield United and became the 250th academy player to play for Manchester United's first team.

As of January this year, when he left the team on loan, Whitley had played 4 times for Manchester United's first team and won an FA Cup with the team. He is currently on loan at the English League Two leader Walsall, with a total of only 3 appearances.

Whitley has also been selected for the England U17, U18 and U19 teams many times. He has made a total of 8 appearances and contributed 3 goals so far.
