Former Barcelona boss Xavi has confirmed he plans to return to coaching this summer after a short break.
The Spanish star left the club in May last year after two and a half seasons in charge, during which he led the team to win the La Liga and Spanish Super Cup titles. As a former legendary midfielder, Xavi chose to temporarily leave the football world after bidding farewell to the stadium, but now he is eager to return to coaching and hopes to continue to add to his honors in the future.
In an interview with France Football, Xavi said: "At the moment I don't have any definite plans for the future, everything remains open. Why not coach another La Liga team? I am willing to listen to offers. I am looking for an exciting project and I am eager to win the championship. This is my goal."
"I like teams that play exciting football and are good at possession, like Guardiola's Manchester City, Sloter's Liverpool, Kompany's Bayern... but I also follow the leagues in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Portugal. I hope my players can enjoy the game, give the fans pleasing football and eventually win the championship. I want to win the Champions League, the European Cup and the World Cup."
Xavi has previously been linked with clubs such as Manchester United and Juventus, and with his reputation in the football world, he is expected to receive many offers this summer. Before joining Barcelona, he led Qatari club Al Sadd to win seven trophies and built a very entertaining team.
As for Xavi's next stop, fans still have to wait and see. Before that, he is likely to continue to focus on Barcelona. The Catalan giants are currently leading La Liga and beat Benfica 1-0 in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16. The situation is good and they are expected to advance to the quarterfinals.
