German head coach Thomas Tuchel has announced his first 24-man Three Lions squad list as England's national team head coach on Friday.
Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Jordan Pickford and other key players were on the list again without any surprise; Harry Maguire, James Maddison, Conor Gallagher, Lewis Dunk, Nick Pope and Morgan Gibbs-White were unexpectedly left out.
Marcus Rashford, the striker who has been in hot form since being loaned-out to Aston Villa from Manchester United during the January winter transfer window, was indeed called up again as rumoured, and Liverpool defender wonderkid Jarell Quansah was also called up again after a year.
In terms of surprises, former captain, Ajax midfielder, Jordan Henderson, who was omitted after leaving Liverpool a year ago, returned to the team again, and Chelsea captain Reece James, who has been plagued by injuries in recent years, also returned from injury.
Reserve goalkeeper James Trafford became the only EFL Championship player called up.
In addition, Arsenal wonderkid Myles Lewis-Skelly and Newcastle United defender Dan Burn were both called up for the first-time.
As for the missing gems, three wonderkids, winger Harvey Elliott (Liverpool), winger Jamie Byrnoe-Gittens (Dortmund) and midfielder Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest) unfortunately missed the opportunity to be called up for the first time.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Luke Shaw, Bukayo Saka, Ollie Watkins were all injured and ruled out; John Stones and Jack Grealish were not called due to their recent poor form as expected.
England will face Albania and Latvia in succession at Wembley Stadium in the 2026 United States, Canada and Mexico FIFA World Cup qualifiers this month, where Tuchel will surely hope to get all six points and start his Three Lions coaching career with a perfect record.
