NBA announces penalties for Detroit Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves

A few days ago, a fight broke out in the second quarter of the game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Detroit Pistons, and five players and two coaches were ejected .

Detroit Pistons forward Isaiah Stewart has been suspended two games without pay for escalating an on-court altercation. Executive Vice President and Director of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars announced that the length of Stewart's suspension will be based on multiple instances of unsportsmanlike conduct.

In addition, Detroit Pistons forward Ron Holland II, guard Marcus Sather, Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid and guard Donte DiVincenzo were suspended one game and will not be paid for their roles in the on-court brawl.

The incident started when Holland II fouled Reed with 8 minutes and 36 seconds left in the second quarter of the Minnesota Timberwolves' game against the Detroit Pistons. After the foul, Reed pointed at Holland II and had a conflict with him.

Holland II then pushed DiVincenzo, who then pushed Holland II in the chest. The two players tangled with Reed and fell into the stands. Isaiah Stewart and Sather then entered the altercation near the stands and pushed DiVincenzo and Reed, causing the situation to escalate.

Reed and DiVincenzo will serve one-game suspensions against the Denver Nuggets. Isaiah Stewart will begin serving a two-game suspension against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Holland Ihle and Sather will also serve one-game suspensions.
