US reporter: Durant is open to staying with the Suns

Kevin Durant has not ruled out staying with the Suns, The Ringer's Logan Murdoch reported on Tuesday.

The Phoenix Suns are one of the teams with the highest salary and luxury tax expenses this season, but their chances of advancing to the playoffs are very slim. They are currently ranked 11th in the Western Conference with a record of 35 wins and 40 losses, one win behind the Kings in front of them.

In the game against the Rockets last weekend, Durant sprained his left ankle after stepping on the instep of Jabari Smith. If he fails to return in time, this game may be his last game for the Suns. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, unless the Suns achieve ideal results in the playoffs, they will discuss Durant's trade in the offseason. Brian Windhorst then added that the Suns plan to send Durant away in the offseason and have reached a basic consensus with him.

However, Logan Murdoch pointed out that Durant is open to staying with the Suns. "Durant may not return to the Suns next season," he wrote. Another Suns star Devin Booker said in a previous interview: "I certainly hope to continue to fight side by side with KD. The team is in a difficult situation, and I believe KD also understands the business factors. When the situation is not good, everyone will start to consider other options. I don't know the truth of the rumors, but we have turned the page. You can see his fighting spirit and feel his feelings for Phoenix."

Despite this, Durant's future with the Suns remains undecided. Since the Suns have no intention of trading Devin Booker, Durant has become the team's only possible trade target. Although Durant will turn 37 before the start of next season, his scoring efficiency is still among the best in the league.

Durant has played 62 times this season, averaging 26.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 0.81 steals and 1.24 blocks per game, with a shooting percentage of 52.7% and a three-point shooting percentage of 43.0%. He will enter the last year of his current contract this summer, when his annual salary will be $54.71 million.
