Shams: 76ers star Tyrese Maxey expected to be out for the season due to finger tendon injury

76ers star Tyrese Maxey is expected to be out for the season with a finger tendon injury, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Thursday.

Charanie then added that the news was disclosed by Tyrese Maxey's agent and Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul. According to him, Maxey has been out due to injury since March 3. He tried rehabilitation training but to no avail and still needs further treatment.

Maxey, 24, plays mainly as a point guard and was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 21st pick in the first round in 2020.

So far, he has played 318 times for the 76ers, averaging 19.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 0.91 steals per game, with a shooting percentage of 46.1% and a three-point shooting percentage of 38.1%.

Maxey played 52 games this season, averaging a career-high 26.3 points, 6.1 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.75 steals in 37.7 minutes per game. Unfortunately, he became the latest player of the 76ers (23 wins and 53 losses) to be reimbursed for the season due to injury, following in the footsteps of Joel Embiid, Paul George, Eric Gordon, Jared McCain and others.
