Enzo Maresca: I think the players performed very well and the support from the fans gave us great motivation

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca was pleased with the performance of his players, especially the contributions of Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez, and believes the support of the fans will drive the team to achieve more.

Chelsea beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in their opening game. Enzo Fernandes headed in the only goal of the game from a cross from Cole Palmer, who had missed the away game against Arsenal before the international break. He returned to the team and assisted Enzo Fernandes' sixth goal of the season.

After the game, Enzo Maresca said: "I think Enzo Fernandez's assist in this game was a top assist. He was in the right position, so I'm really happy for him."

"Cole Palmer's performance in this game was similar to any other, the only difference is that he didn't score or assist in the previous games. Cole Palmer is a top player, one of the best players on the team, so every time he doesn't score or assist it makes the news."

"However, for me this is a very normal thing. We can't expect Cole Palmer to score or assist in every game. I think the team's overall performance is very good. In the last 12 minutes of the game, we still tried our best to maintain the lead. We know how important this game is to us. We want to win from the beginning of the game."

"I thought we controlled the game for 90 minutes and until stoppage time and we created enough chances.

Enzo Maresca also expressed his gratitude for the support of the fans, saying: "We have the best fans since the start of the season. They have always supported us and made the atmosphere in the stadium lively."

"With the fans' enthusiastic support, we will achieve more because they always motivate us and help us. So I'm really happy and it would be a good thing for us if the fans can stay with us until the end."
