Serbian team Night Pulse accused German powehouse OG of illegally poaching their multiple contracted players and causing its Dota 2 roster to be disbanded through its official Telegram account on Tuesday.
According to Night Pulse's official statement, the team had already begun preparations for the formation of its roster in late February and early March, and reached an agreement and fully signed contracts with four players including Davai Lama, who played the off-lane, in early March. All parties have also agreed to officially announce the news on March 18.
The team's original roster was supposed to consist of Davai Lama (off-lane), dEsire (support), Worick (mid-lane), Kidaro (support), and the original member Kami (captain).
Unexpectedly, as the official announcement date was approaching, Davai Lama and Kidaro both unilaterally and suddenly announced that they had terminated their contract with Night Pulse and would be moving to OG.
Soon after, Kami suddenly expressed his intention to leave the team, which made dEsire and Worick also want to leave, and their Dota 2 roster collapsed instantly.
Because the incident was too sudden and strange, Night Pulse sent people to secretly investigate the matter, and finally found that the whole incident was secretly planned by OG.
Night Pulse accused OG of secretly approaching Davai Lama, dEsire, Worick, and Kidaro at the same time after knowing that Davai Lama, dEsire, Worick, and Kidaro had signed with the team.
Later, even Kami was secretly approached by OG. The team induced the three to be poached with higher wages and bonuses. Although Kami decided not to follow Davai Lama and Worick at the last minute, this incident has caused great dissatisfaction among Night Pulse management.
Night Pulse criticized that as one of the veteran teams in the Dota 2 e-sports circle, OG should not have used such treacherous behavior to treat small and medium-sized teams that do not have as strong financial resources as them. Moreover, their actions have been classified as illegal poaching to severely damage the competitiveness of their opponents, which can be classified as a criminal offense, and described the latter's behaviour as unsportsmanlike.
The team also hopes that Valve, DreamHack, ESL and other major Dota 2 e-sports tournament companies can take strict and effective legal measures to protect the interests of each team and prevent malicious incidents like OG's illegal poaching of other teams' contracted players from continuing to happen.
