League of Legends will add a new lane-swapping feature during the draft phase

Following calls from many players, Riot Games has finally responded to the long-standing "auto-fill" problem in League of Legends - version 25.08 will be launched on April 16, 2025, adding a new "lane switching during the selection phase" function, which will completely change the previous way of communication.

In the new version, players will see a "swap lane" button during the hero selection phase. Click it to request a lane swap to your teammates, and they can swap lanes immediately after they confirm. The entire process does not require typing or persuasion, greatly improving communication efficiency.

This feature is particularly beneficial for muted players or teammates who do not speak the same language, making lane negotiations more intuitive and barrier-free - there is no need to rush to type "mid pls" during the countdown or worry about the other side not being able to understand the awkward bilingual chat.

Riot said the feature is intended to address the issue of "poor communication during lane swaps during the pre-select phase" and allow players to play in more comfortable lanes.
