The two-time Dota 2 International Invitational champion OG team recently released a documentary called "Lessons in Defeat", revealing for the first time their low point in the early 2025 season.
The 34-minute documentary premiered on May 2nd, and it chronicles the entire process of OG's Western European division from its formation to its disbandment in a sincere and moving narrative. The protagonists include former members 23savage, Nine, Wisper, Ari and xNova, and viewers have the opportunity to see their true emotions and team changes between wins and losses.
The documentary also invited coach KheZu, then-manager Allen Cook, and OG co-founders N0tail and Ceb to share the story behind the team. The film specifically reviews OG's campaign in the ESL One Bangkok qualifiers at the end of 2024.
At that time, they defeated strong teams such as Gaimin Gladiators and Tundra Esports, and their performance attracted much attention. However, they eventually lost to rookie AVULUS and failed to advance to the finals. The documentary also recorded their defeat in "BLAST Slam I". In the key battle against Team Falcons, OG originally had an advantage in the final game, but due to a sudden server crash and reset of the game, they were eventually eliminated, which triggered major changes in the team.
After the series, OG disbanded and the players left. Wisper returned to South America to join HEROIC, 23savage and xNova returned to Southeast Asia to find a new team, Ari is now playing for NaVi on loan, and Nine left the team in early April.
Despite the low point, OG has not withdrawn from the Dota 2 arena. Currently, OG is using a trial team and has established a South American branch, OG.LATAM, which has popular players such as K1 and DarkMago. It is expected to participate in the 26th season of DreamLeague, which will start on May 19.
