On Tuesday local time, Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti was selected as the NBA's Best Executive for the 2024/25 season.
This is the first time that Presti has been named NBA Executive of the Year. He previously finished second in the voting three times, in the 2009/10 season, the 2019/20 season and the 2023/24 season.
According to the selection mechanism, the NBA Executive of the Year is voted by a jury composed of a basketball executive appointed by each team. Presti received 10 first-place votes, 6 second-place votes and 6 third-place votes out of 30 votes, winning with an overwhelming advantage of 74 total points. Cleveland Cavaliers General Manager Koby Altman ranked second with 6 first-place votes, 8 second-place votes and 4 third-place votes (58 points), while Detroit Pistons General Manager Trajan Langdon ranked third with 6 first-place votes, 5 second-place votes and 7 third-place votes (52 points).
Presti, 47, has been in charge of the Thunder for 18 consecutive seasons since he took over as general manager in June 2007. In this regular season, the Thunder he created not only led the league with a record of 68 wins and 14 losses, but also set a league record for the highest net score with an average of 12.9 points per game.
In addition, Presti's key signings this season - center Isaiah Hartenstein and guard Alex Caruso, as well as his continued investment and vision in the Thunder's reconstruction, have become key factors in this award. Head coach Mark Daigneault, core members such as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams and Luguentz Dort are all the results of his multi-year planning.
Prior to joining the Thunder, Presti played for the San Antonio Spurs for seven years, starting out as a video intern and working his way up to vice president and assistant general manager.
