Riot Games has officially launched a special commemorative mission for League of Legends to commemorate former professional player and first-ever World Championship champion Maciej "Shushei" Ratuszniak, who died of cancer on April 28, 2025 at the age of 33.
As a deep tribute to Shushei, Riot will give all players the exclusive title "Shushei Forever" and his iconic Fnatic Gragas skin for free through a limited-time in-game mission.
The mission will start on May 6, 2025 and end on June 3, 2025. How to start the mission: Log in to the client, click the "Memorial Mission" page in the task bar on the left, and the mission will be displayed in the lower right corner with a title icon.
The completion condition is to use the hero Gragas to participate in any three matching modes (Quick Game, Ranked, and ARAM). Human-computer games are not counted towards the progress.
Shushei led Fnatic to win the first global championship in the 2011 League of Legends World Finals and became the first MVP of the World Finals. With his non-mainstream play style and strong personal ability, he set off a trend in the mid-lane battlefield at the time, especially known for his mid-lane Alistar and jungle Evelynn. Although he retired in 2013, his promotion of the development of Polish e-sports is of far-reaching significance, and he can be regarded as a guide of an era.
Shushei's funeral was held at the Resurrection Cathedral in Bydgoszcz, Poland on May 5. His death was mourned by countless League of Legends players and older generation professional players. Now, through this sincere memorial, Riot invites all summoners to remember this e-sports pioneer who was at the forefront of the times.
