St. Pauli signs New York City midfielder James Sands on loan for six months, with an option to extend until 2026

St. Pauli officially announced on Wednesday that it has loaned James Sands from New York City FC until June 30, 2025. According to New York City FC, St. Pauli can choose to extend the lease for one year under certain conditions.
At the same time, Sands confirmed that he has completed the contract extension with New York City . The new contract will be extended by one year on the basis of the original one, until December 31, 2028.
The 24-year-old James Sands was born in New York, USA, and mainly plays as a defensive midfielder or central defender. He came from the New York City youth training and made his professional debut on September 16, 2017 as a substitute for Andrea Pirlo.
So far, Sands has made 143 appearances for New York City FC, scoring 1 goal and providing 2 assists, winning the 2021 MLS Championship with the team. He also played for Glasgow on loan from January 2022 to March 2023. Rangers, during which time he made 41 appearances and scored 1 goal, winning 1 Scottish Cup with the team.
