Holstein Kiel announced on its official website on Thursday that the club has signed American international defender wonderkid John Tolkin from the New York Red Bulls.
According to Holstein Kiel's official statement, Tolkin has signed on a three-and-a-half-year contract with the club whichh will run until the summer of 2028, and he will also wear the No. 47 jersey.
After completing his joining procedures, Tolkin, who was interviewed by Holstein Kiel's official website for the first time, said: "The Bundesliga is one of the best top leagues in the world. This will be a huge challenge for me and I am very much looking forward to it. My goal is to get here as soon as possible, get familiar with my team, and do my best to ensure success in the second half of the season."
About John Tolkin
Tolkin, who is only 22 years old, was born on July 31, 2002 in Chatham, New Jersey, USA. He is 1.7 meters tall and primarily plays as a left-wing back and can also play as a left midfielder.
Tolkien joined the New York Red Bulls youth academy at a young age. He began to play for the New York Red Bulls reserve team in 2019 and completed his New York Red Bulls first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in May 2021.
During his three-and-a-half-year spell with the New York Red Bulls, Tolkien played 135 times for the Major League Soccer (MLS) club in all competitions, scored 9 goals, assisted 20 times, and was selected for the 2023 MLS All-Star team.
