E-sports club Quantum recently officially announced the disbanding of its "Dota 2" team and will temporarily withdraw from the project's professional competitions.
This move is related to the core player Lukas being involved in a match-fixing scandal, which has attracted strong attention in the circle. Quantum released a statement through its official Telegram account, pointing out that the original lineup of Lukas, Rvze, Ankou, Kolya_kaBAN68 and Fezor had already faced reorganization due to poor performance.
Lukas was the only member of Quantum who was retained and was originally planned to be the core of the reconstruction. However, with the outbreak of the match-fixing incident, the relevant plans were completely terminated.
Quantum said: "We have always believed in Lukas' professionalism and honesty and were unaware of his violations. After the incident, we immediately contacted the organizer to clarify that we were not involved."
It is understood that the Electronic Sports Professional League (EPL) recently disqualified the Quantum team from participating in the competition on the grounds of suspected match-fixing, and Lukas has also admitted to the relevant allegations.
As the incident continued to ferment, Quantum finally decided to disband the existing team completely, retaining only the youth training team Quantum Academy, and temporarily withdraw from the "Dota 2" professional stage.
At present, Quantum has not announced the specific time of returning to the professional arena. This incident not only highlights the importance of integrity in the e-sports circle, but also rings the alarm bell for the entire industry. Only transparency and self-discipline can protect the original intention of competition.
