LPL slammed Anyone's Legend (AL) for merely deducting performance-based salary from its player Shanks, who was accused of sexual harassment and racism against women..

The LPL issued a statement on its official X (Twitter) account on Thursday, and slammed League of Legends powerhouse Anyone's Legend (AL) for merely deducting performance-based salary from its player Shanks, who was accused of sexual harassment and racism against women.

The LPL tweet criticized not only Shanks himself, but also AL's refusal to apologize and address the issue following the controversy, which is not only unethical but also lacks respect for gender equality and women's human rights.

The statement also added that other teams, when active players on their roster violated professional ethics, were punished by having their entire salary deducted, a more severe punishment than AL's decision to deduct only three months of Shanks' performance-based salary.

They believe AL should follow the precedent set by other teams and impose a more severe punishment on Shanks as a lesson to prevent such incidents from happening again. AL should also listen to the opinions of fans and industry professionals and reflect deeply on its actions.

Cause of the Incident

In the early morning hours of August 8, 2025, a female user by the username 66 initiated a debate on TikTok regarding the topic "Is working in a nightclub shameful?", during which Shanks and former professional gamers Icon and Mole all participated as opponents.

During the debate, Icon and Mole repeatedly used vulgar and offensive language, including appearance discrimination, personal attacks, humiliation, and sexual harassment against women, even making numerous racist remarks against Black people.

Their outrageous behaviour immediately disgusted the female, who angrily remarked, "Good gamers deserve respect, but low-quality players are scum."

66 also stated that the entire 10-minute debate had been recorded as evidence by her secondary user account, staysane_always.

Subsequently, 66 cancelled her main account due to unbearable public pressure. Although Shanks himself and AL did not respond, he, Icon and Mole were all criticized for using their identities as professional League of Legends e-sports players to disrespect women.
