Alexis Sanchez: I will give my best and my goal here is to make a positive contribution to the team

Sevilla FC's new striker for the 2025-26 season, Alexis Sánchez, gave his first interview with the club. The experienced player expressed his eagerness to meet his new fans. He said he had been feeling a mixture of nervousness and excitement in recent days, having been eagerly awaiting this moment.  

"Joining a big club like Sevilla is an important opportunity for me," said Alexis Sanchez. "Although I have had many opportunities to return to South America, I feel physically very good and still have the ability to perform in Europe, especially in a great team like Sevilla."  

"This is a great stadium with great fans, and I'm very excited to play against them. I believe the team has the potential to be even stronger than it is now. As a club that should always maintain a high level, Sevilla should fight for the Champions League, strive for honors like the Europa League and return to the top."  

Talking about the challenges of age and staying in peak form, Alexis Sanchez said frankly: "I think it is crucial to maintain a professional attitude. As long as you are in good physical condition and have a high level of professionalism, you can prove yourself. Age is just a number. As long as you perform well on the field. I have always been full of fighting spirit and experience, eager to keep moving forward and strive for victory. No matter which team I am in, I have the ability to compete for the championship. I chose to join here because I want to fight for the championship, not just play football."  

"I can play in all three attacking positions and I can also perform well in midfield. But as long as I can contribute to the team and the young players, I will give my all. After speaking with Matías Almeida, I felt a strong resonance."

The presence of another compatriot, Suazo, also played a positive role in his adaptation. He said: "Yes, I knew him when I was in the national team. We understand each other's playing style very well, and I am familiar with his playing characteristics. In fact, he has always been a very professional player, both in the national team and in the clubs he has played for. Although it is the national team's game period now, we will have more exchanges after I return."
