Quinn, the North American mid-lane star player who won the Dota 2 Major championship three times, officially announced the end of his nine-year professional career.
Quinn, who is only 26 years old, said in a 10-minute pre-recorded video that as his motivation gradually faded, he was no longer willing to endure the high pressure and endless training in the professional arena and decided to retire.
Quinn admits that his professional life made him miss out on important time with his family and friends, a sacrifice that was no longer worth it after achieving his dream. In 2023, he joined the European team Gaimin Gladiators and had a brilliant season, winning all three Majors that year and reaching the finals at The International 2023.
At that time, Quinn said frankly that he had achieved his goal: "I proved that I can be the strongest, and we can also be the strongest." However, in the following 2024 and 2025, the motivation gradually disappeared, and he finally decided to end his career.
Unfortunately, Quinn was unable to complete his final match at TI 2025, which was supposed to be his final performance, due to internal conflicts within Gaimin Gladiators. Despite this, he still expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his fans, teammates, and colleagues who have supported him over the years in the video.
From reaching the TI quarterfinals for the first time in 2018 to sweeping the global competition in 2023, Quinn's career is legendary. Over the past nine years, he has not only earned the title of the best mid laner in North America with his consistent top performance, but also established a world-class status in cross-continental competition.
Although he has officially retired from the professional arena, Quinn stated that he will remain active in the Dota 2 community and continue to accompany fans in other ways. His retirement not only marks the end of an era, but also leaves a significant mark in the history of esports.
