Chimunya Ugochuw: We are very disappointed but I think we tried our best

Southampton lost 1-3 to Newcastle United in the Premier League and Chimunya Ugochuw was very disappointed with his team's defeat.

Newcastle led by one goal thanks to Jan Bednarek's second goal in as many games, but Alexander Isak's brace turned the game around. "We are disappointed because after we scored the first goal, VAR came. I think the team tried their best but Newcastle are obviously a very good team in the Premier League," said Chimunya Ugochuw.

"We had the chance to get back to 3-2 but they cancelled it out. But we will keep fighting because that's what we do. We will stick together and try to do our best in every game. I will also try to contribute as much as I can to the team because they gave me the opportunity to play in the Premier League."

Chimunya Ugochuw has played in every Premier League game since Ivan Juric joined Southampton and he will be hoping to continue that form over the remaining weeks of the season.

Chimunya Ugochuw said: "I think the new coach Ivan Juric has brought me new energy. He has a lot of confidence in me. I want to repay him and show everyone my quality. This is what I try to do in every game. I think my teammates have also been helping me. They have always believed in me, which gives me a lot of confidence."
