Bayern Munich officially announce the signing of Germany U21s international goalkeeper wonderkid Jonas Urbig from Köln..


Bayern Munich announced on its official website on Monday that the club has signed Germany U21s international goalkeeper wonderkid Jonas Urbig from Köln.


According to the Bundesliga giants' official statement, Urbig has signed on a long-term four-and-a-half-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2029.


After completing his joining procedures, Urbig, who was interviewed by Bayern Munich's official website for the first time, said: "Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world. I am proud to be here now and I look forward to getting familiar with my new team as soon as possible. My goal is to improve my professional level every day and continue to improve in the goalkeeping team led by Manuel Neuer."


About Jonas Urbig


Urbig, who is only 21 years old, was born on August 8, 2003 in Euskirchen, Germany. He is 1.89 meters tall and plays as a goalkeeper. His parents were also goalkeepers at Euskirchen.


Urbig followed his parents' footsteps and joined the Euskirchen youth academy since he was a child. In 2012, he was invited to participate in the trial at Köln and joined its youth training system. In 2021, he began to play for Köln's reserve team.


In January 2023, Urbig was loaned-out to Jahn Regensburg.


In July of the same year, Urbig was loaned-out to Greuther Furth.


After returning to the club following his loan spell in the summer of 2024, Urbig completed his Köln first-team debut in August of the same year.


During the first half of the season, Urbig played 11 times for the 2. Bundesliga club in all competitions, conceding 22 goals and keeping clean sheets twice.
